Flavour Nurse is a Faewarian band known for pioneering the genre of Arcane Rock. The band consists of frontman Gaius Black, bassist Sobias Sheim, guitarist Raven Van Rijn & drummer Croon. Side Effects is about how we spend our energy, influenced by experience with addiction, being the opposite of connection – the piece is a journey of taking control of the exchange and reconnecting to one's source.
An insatiable lust for life calls us to take and feel it all, but any large exchange of energy comes at a cost and what goes up, must come down. We must pay our debts with grace and sweat it out, for suffering is the basis to enlightenment, to transmute lead into gold. Psychological sex is whatever you want it to be, the ultimate indulgence - it could be sex, or drugs, anything that brings you to an elevated state. The circling morale of the piece is to be aware of the exchange and ask oneself, is it worth the cost, is it worth the Side Effects.
The B section tells of the self reflection process, the yearning call of ‘what is my purpose’, this is the part of the journey where we self actualise and for Flavour Nurse - our role to be of this world is to spread a message of unconditional love.
Sex, drugs and Rock'n'Roll is the ultimate facade - sucking us in to the trance of low vibrational frequencies, of which we must break free, only then will we energetically resonate to our potential.
